I met Remi Daniel officially in 1981 when I entered University of Lagos. Before then, we met, from afar at my cousin’s bachelor’s eve party in 1980. He stood out as the most joyous person at the party. He danced, exuding so much joy and delight. His smile could light up a whole city. I had no word to capture this young man’s demeanour that evening. I did not know his name until I got admission to Unilag the following year and I realised he was Brother Akin Ero-Phillips, my cousin’s friend. They were a group of friends that were like a family. I joined that family, who gave me a soft landing into the university life and culture.
Little did I know that Remi will eventually marry my sweet cousin, Jumoke some years later.
All the Unilag days, Remi conducted himself with dignity, reliability, credibility and responsibility. He was fair in his judgement (maybe that was why he studied law), he will speak the truth in every situation, and was quite knowledgeable in current affairs. I noticed his heart of genuine love for humanity and he never took anyone for granted. Generosity seemed to come naturally to Remi. He gave without making a show of giving, and he never made people feel indebted to him. His heart was genuinely open to people.
Remi would create his own joy and fun, because he carried joy rather than waited for circumstances to provide it. He was a music lover and will dance like an ant.
Remi took all these qualities to a higher level when he met with Christ. I cannot forget soon, or at all, the beautiful worship moments we had together with Jumoke, my husband, Muyiwa and Remi in our small camp home. With my husband on the keyboard, Remi putting in worship songs, Jumoke and I supplying the harmony; we all worshipped into the nights. Many times slain in the Spirit and not able to sing or talk anymore. God confirming His word to us, bringing healing and sheer joy and absolute tranquility to our souls in the process of worship with Remi and the crew.
Remi was my friend before he became my in-law, (marrying my younger cousin) he being a man of wisdom, transformed that relationship so effectively. He accorded me with the appropriate respect of an in-law, in spite of our friendship, for which I held him in the highest esteem.
He was a trusted friend and cousin-in-law. My husband and I had a long list of ‘to do’ for Remi and Jumoke and was waiting for them to be in camp on Sunday the 2nd of August. All arrangements made by the duo, as usual, to make the home conducive for habitation was already in place.
We were at our church service that fateful Sunday morning, August 2, 2026, when the uncomfortable news filtered in. “We lost Remi Daniel early hours of yesterday.”
The rest is history. History that cannot be easily forgotten, history filled with precious moments of sweet relationships, a history that looks with hope toward its continuation at the feet of Jesus, from that resurrection morning when we shall meet to part no more.
Till then, sleep on brother, resting in your Father’s bosom.
May the Lord comfort Jumoke and the entire family, and may those beautiful memories—the laughter, dancing, friendship, generosity, and those unforgettable nights of worship—remain precious.
Good night Remi. Until the resurrection morning.

A Tribute to a Faithful Servant: Pastor Andrew Aderemi Daniel
Pastor Andrew Aderemi Daniel was the true definition of a shepherd after God’s own heart. He did not lead from a distance; he walked among the people as a dependable friend and a beacon of Christ's love. His extraordinarily calm nature brought peace to chaotic situations, and his lips always brought forth words of profound healing and wisdom.
Whenever there was a need, Pastor Daniel was always the first to lend a
helping hand, showing God's love through practical action. He was a man of the secret place, anchoring his strength in a fervent prayer life that inspired everyone around him to seek God more deeply. His absence leaves a vast, quiet void, but the impact of his authentic leadership remains forever etched in our hearts.
While we grieve this irreplaceable loss, we do not mourn like those without
hope. We rejoice knowing he has entered into eternal rest, hearing the beautiful words of the Master: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
Goodnight, Pastor Daniel. You fought a good fight, you finished your course,
and you kept the faith.

My dear Egbon, I still can’t believe I am writing this. The last time we saw, little did we know that you were saying goodbye to us. It is difficult to accept that you are gone, but we take comfort in knowing that you are now resting peacefully with the Lord. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May God grant you eternal rest and give us all the strength to bear this loss. Sun re o, Egbon.

My Family came to know and love Aderemi Daniel Esq. fondly called 'Broda Remi', and his passing has left us all deeply saddened. We first met as our Landlord at Fola Agoro, where his love for family, compassion, humility, and deep respect for people were always on full display.
Over the years he carved out a place in many hearts, and we wish to extend sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and admirers.
Just a few months ago, he called to personally invite me and my Wife, Ibironke to Pa. Elliot Daniel’s funeral ceremonies, a simple but powerful gesture that showed his warmth and thoughtfulness.
May Broda Remi rest well, and may his life and example of kindness be celebrated and forever remembered.

I met Mr Daniel early in my practice. Despite being an Igbo and a couple of years his junior in practice, we became great friends. He supported me so much that he became a big brother and mentor. This friendship also extended between our families and friends. There are a few men who are dedicated to his family and friends like Mr Daniel. He never shirks his responsibility in any manner. He will be greatly missed.
Adieu my friend, rest in perfect peace. Amen

Losing our brother, Egbon Remi is a pain that is difficult to put into words and hard to say goodbye to someone who has been part of your life for as long as you can remember.
When I look back at our childhood, I’m reminded of how blessed we were to have him as a big brother. Attending school at St. Catherine’s, being the Egbon he was, he would always be very protective of me. There will always be an empty place in my heart and the love we shared growing up. Even when we became adults and life journeys directed our paths to different continents, the bond created from when we were young, time could never erase.
Egbon Remi was a gift to our Family. His jeje la jeje presence, gentleness, calmness, softness, thoughtfulness and care touched my life in ways I may not have always expressed. Even when we had misunderstandings, you can’t but not go back and apologize and make things right with him because you don’t want to miss hearing from him, that was Egbon. I am grateful for every memory especially the most lasting one spent with you in January, every conversation, every laugh and every moment we shared will forever be treasured.
A true man of God who did not take his God given responsibility lightly. He was truly God’s sheperd- a man who carried his calling with seriousness, humility and love. He understood people entrusted to his care were precious to God and served them with love, dedication, wisdom and a deep sense of care. His faithfulness was evident not only in words but in the way he served. He understood that being a shepherd was a SACRED responsibility which he honored with all his heart. He was also a good Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, In-law, Cousin and Friend. His absence will be felt in so many ways but I know his memories will live in our lives forever in the stories we tell and in the hearts of everyone who knew him. How I wished we had more time together, but God had a different plan..
Rest peacefully Egbon and Forever in our hearts! Until we meet again, may you know how deeply you were loved and how greatly you will be missed. Heaven has gained an ANGEL👼😇🕊️
